Our family mediators understand that money can be a point of tension for many families. Whatever your dispute, we can help guide you towards a resolution in an informed manner.

The Mediation Process

The mediation process is broken down into 3 stages:

Stage 1 – MIAM (Mediation Information & Assessment Meeting)

A MIAM is an appointment held with each individual person prior to any mediation sessions taking place. The mediator will speak with each person separately to start with so that you both have the same opportunity to talk through your individual concerns regarding the mediation process, it also allows the mediator to find out about your particular situation. Within this appointment you and the mediator will make a decision based on the information discussed within your MIAM as to whether or not mediation is suitable for your situation.

Stage 2 – Mediation Session

Once both parties have participated within individual MIAM appointments and have agreed they would like to proceed with the mediation process, a mediation session is then offered and arranged (the number of mediation sessions can vary from case to case depending on the issues needing to be resolved). Mediation sessions are typically one and half hours unless a shuttle mediation is arranged. A shuttle mediation is process in which you cannot see or hear the other person.

Stage 3 - The Summary of agreements reached

Once mediation has concluded and both parties are satisfied with the proposals reached, should both clients wish, your mediator is able to provide you with written documentation that confirms the proposals reached and the intentions made within your mediation sessions.
